  • Instead, noise issues in Stowe are governed by an outdated Vermont's state-wide noise statute.

2. Vermont State Noise Statute:

3. Noise Concerns and Issues in Stowe:

  • Excessive Transportation Noise: Areas of Stowe along major roadways suffer from unmuffled engine braking, illegally modified motorcycle mufflers, and poorly muffled vehicles. Certain parts of Stowe are now in danger due to high levels of noise which have rendered them “unfit for residential use.”

  • Outdoor Music: There have been instances where permits for outdoor music at businesses like Stowe Cider have been suspended due to noise complaints from nearby residents.

  • Animal Noise: The animal control ordinance only covers dogs and cats. It does not apply to other animal noise.
