This proposed Town of Stowe Noise ordinance reflects best national practices and is tailored for the issues that Stowe is currently dealing with as far as excessive noise. These noise sources include:

  • Excessive vehicle exhaust noise

  • Incessant animal noise

  • Loud parties and amplified music

  • Construction noise before/after “quiet hours”

It was drafted by Les Blomberg of the Noise Pollution Clearinghouse, a national non-profit which helps communities dealing with noise policies and regulations.

Who we are

We are a group of Stowe residents who support a town noise ordinance to protect, preserve and promote the health, safety, and welfare, peace and quiet for the citizens of the Town of Stowe through reduction, control, and prevention of noise pollutuion.

Why a petition drive?

Since the town has been reluctant to initiate a much needed solution to our noise concerns, we are organizing a citizen initiated petition drive. The goal is to get enough signatures to include the ordinance on the ballot for Town Meeting Day in March 2026, or approved by the Select Board before that date.
